The Knocklyon Parish Website Development Story

 

The parish had an old website that was difficult to manage and with a lot of old content. Part of the re-development od the parish website was to build a very custom CMS so that different administrators could access different parts of the website that they were responsible for.

 

As well as the Parish aspect, the Iona Centre also features on the site. The centre is a community focus area where multiple classes and events take place. Part of the built was to include a calendar of events that was easy to create manage and update on a weekly basis.

 

The old site was only compatible with desktop PC’s so a new site design was created to make the website responsive so it can be viewed on mobile devices as well.

 

This is a scalable website with the ability to add many other features. Some currently features include the ability to add image galleries as well as insert video if required.

 

 Advanced Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) has been built into this design as well as integration with Google Analytics to monitor the websites performance.

 

The Knocklyon Parish Website launched in March 2019.

 

In 2024 as part of the Parish Jubilee, the Parish Counsel decided to re-vamp the design of the old website with a fresh new look to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the parish. With this new website also came many upgrades to the functionality of the website:

• Calendar upgrades
• Live Mass upgrades
• Donation functionality
• Domain Email accounts

As we are also based in Knocklyon we are very proud to be able to work with the Parish Counsel on this website and promote a vibrant south Dublin community online.
